The A Journey of Creative Discovery Erasmus+ project recently came to an end in Malta, bringing together youth workers from across Europe for a week full of creativity, collaboration, and learning. Hosted by SPYS in collaboration with Friends of Don Bosco Malta, the project welcomed participants from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Georgia, Italy, Malta, Spain, the Netherlands, and Ukraine, creating a diverse and inspiring group.
Throughout the week, participants took part in a variety of interactive workshops and discussions focused on using creative arts in youth work. They explored different art forms such as performative arts, painting, photography, pottery, writing, storytelling through comics, voice acting, and even outdoor activities. These hands-on sessions gave participants the chance to try out new ideas and think about how they can bring more creativity into their own work.
The project aimed to give youth workers practical tools to support young people through artistic expression. A lot of focus was placed on encouraging self-expression, improving communication, and building emotional resilience. Through the different activities, participants explored how creative methods can help young people better understand their emotions, cope with challenges, and gain confidence.
Working together was a big part of the experience. Participants collaborated on group activities that encouraged teamwork, sharing ideas, and supporting one another. This created a great space for exchanging experiences and learning from different perspectives, while also showing how creative approaches can be used to spark critical thinking and new ways of solving problems.
As the days went by, a strong sense of connection developed within the group. The atmosphere was open, friendly, and inclusive, making it easy for everyone to take part and express themselves. Beyond the workshops, participants built genuine connections and friendships that will continue even after the project.
A big thank you goes to the trainers, Louis Debono, Claudia Chircop, and Sarah Azzopardi, whose energy, creativity, and support helped make the whole experience engaging and enjoyable.
Friends of Don Bosco Malta were happy to support the project, helping ensure everything ran smoothly and that participants felt welcomed and supported throughout the week.
We would like to thank all participants and partners for their energy, openness, and contribution throughout the week. It was great to see so many ideas shared and connections built along the way. We also appreciate the support of the Erasmus+ Programme for making projects like this possible and for continuing to support youth work across Europe.
