Friends of Don Bosco Malta has been collaborating with Friends of Don Bosco in Burundi since 2020. This partnership project is supporting 38 children who are among the poorest in Burundi. It supports children who do not have the means to attend school instead they spend their time on the streets.
The aim of the project is to support these children in their education as well as to support some of their mothers to help them earn a living and teach them skills on healthy cooking, budgeting and try to help them access work to earn a living.

These children are provided with school uniforms and necessary school supplies, school insurance and maintenance fees so they will be able to attend school. After school animators follow children in their homework and studies. During the school holidays a variety of activities are organised for these children where they are also provided with a meal.
In August 2023, Friends of Don Bosco Malta sent the first group of volunteers who collaborated with Friends of Don Bosco Burundi and organised a summer program for these young children. This included English lessons, singing and dancing, games and crafts.
