Job Description: Social Project Coordinator – Intergenerational Programme

Friends of Don Bosco is seeking a dedicated and organised Intergenerational Program Coordinator to coordinate and support an intergenerational programme based within a residential setting, bringing together older adults and young people in a safe, supportive, and community-oriented environment.

Position Overview

The Intergenerational Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and day-to-day running of an intergenerational residential programme. The role involves working closely with elderly residents, developing individual care and support plans, facilitating access to public and community services, and coordinating the day-to-day operational needs of the residence.

The Coordinator ensures that the residential environment is welcoming, safe, and responsive to the needs of its residents, while promoting positive intergenerational interaction and community integration.

Key Responsibilities

Programme and Resident Support:

  • Coordinate and oversee intergenerational activities within the residential setting.
  • Work closely with elderly residents to assess needs and develop individual care and support plans.
  • Support residents in accessing public services and other services available within their local area.
  • Promote social inclusion, wellbeing, and meaningful engagement between generations.

Residential Coordination and Oversight:

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operational needs of the residence in line with programme requirements.
  • Liaise with service providers, staff, and partners to ensure the residence meets the needs of its residents.
  • Ensure the residential environment remains safe, welcoming, and well organised.
  • Coordinate practical needs related to the building and residential services, escalating issues when necessary.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Build and maintain positive, respectful relationships with residents and other professionals involved in their care and support.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, Community Worker, and external stakeholders involved in programme delivery to ensure coordinated and effective services.
  • Foster a respectful, caring, and supportive residential community.

Administration and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records, care plans, and programme documentation.
  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and organisational policies are adhered to at all times.
  • Support reporting, evaluation, and follow-up activities related to the programme.

Additional Duties:

  • Participate in meetings, supervision, and training as required.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by management or the National Council.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Tertiary-level education in social sciences, social work, psychology, community development, education, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a social, community, residential, or care-related setting.
  • Experience working with elderly people is considered an asset.
  • Ability to develop and implement individual care or support plans.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to navigate, public services and community-based support systems.
  • Strong organisational, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Empathy, flexibility, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Working Hours

This is a full-time position. Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet the needs of the residential programme and its residents.

Salary

€ 28,000 – €31,000 annually
