Friends of Don Bosco is seeking two Youth Animators to join Oratory on the Move, a mobile youth work initiative built around youth participation, creativity, and shared decision-making.

Rooted in the Salesian spirit, Oratory on the Move provides safe, inclusive, and engaging spaces for young people through outreach, non-formal learning, and community-based activities. The project focuses on meeting young people where they are, encouraging participation, and empowering them to shape activities and initiatives.

Position Overview

The Youth Animator plays an active role in both the creation and delivery of the Oratory on the Move programme. Working alongside young people, other youth animators, and the project coordinator, the Animator supports a youth-led approach, encouraging participation, creativity, and ownership.

This is a hands-on, part-time role suited to individuals who enjoy working directly with young people, coming up with ideas, and contributing to dynamic outreach activities in community settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work directly with young people, supporting their active participation in a youth-led programme.
  • Contribute ideas and actively participate in the planning, creation, and development of activities.
  • Support the delivery of outreach and mobile youth activities in different community settings.
  • Help create safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces for non-formal learning and social interaction.
  • Encourage young people to take initiative, express themselves, and shape activities and projects.
  • Work collaboratively with other youth animators, youth workers, and the project coordinator.
  • Assist with the preparation, set-up, delivery, and follow-up of activities.
  • Support basic record-keeping and documentation related to the project, contributing to monitoring, reporting, and funding requirements.
  • Assist with project evaluation and feedback processes as required.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and organisational policies at all times.

  • Strong interest in working with young people, with a commitment to youth participation and empowerment.
  • Ability to generate ideas and contribute creatively to programme planning and activities.
  • A positive, energetic, and approachable attitude.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work in different community locations.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of Friends of Don Bosco.
  • Experience in youth work, youth animation, volunteering, or non-formal education is considered an asset.

 

Working Hours

This is a part-time position, averaging 8 hours per week.Hours may vary depending on outreach activities and programme needs.
