For over twenty years, the Comunità della Missione Don Bosco (CMB) has been committed to the protection, care, and development of vulnerable girls in Madagascar. Through its residential project in Fianarantsoa, young girls facing poverty, abandonment, and social hardship have been provided with a safe environment where they can grow with dignity, stability, and hope for a better future.

A New Phase of Support

As these girls reach adulthood, their needs evolve. While the existing programme has successfully supported them through childhood, the transition to independent life presents new challenges. Limited employment opportunities in Fianarantsoa could undermine the progress they have made, potentially exposing them again to vulnerable circumstances.

To address this, CMB is launching a new phase of the project in the capital, Antananarivo. 8 to 10 older girls will be gradually transferred to a new residential setting, where they will benefit from greater access to education and vocational pathways, a more dynamic social and economic environment, and direct support in seeking and securing employment. Throughout this transition, they will continue to receive personal and professional guidance, ensuring they are fully supported on their journey toward independence and dignified adult life.

The Antananarivo phase is designed as a comprehensive support programme, covering the rental of a suitable house, utilities and operational expenses, recruitment of local female educators, daily maintenance and living costs for the girls, as well as ongoing educational and vocational support. This initiative goes beyond providing accommodation; it is a structured programme that fosters mentorship, practical skills, and the confidence needed to build stable and self-reliant futures.

The Role of Employment and Vocational Support
Employment and skills development are central to the project’s success. CMB members in Antananarivo, many of whom work with Salesian educational institutions and support street children in job placement, will mentor and guide the girls toward stable employment. Education, vocational training, and personal accompaniment will ensure they are fully prepared for independent adult life.

Our Commitment to Supporting Vulnerable Girls
Friends of Don Bosco Malta are dedicated to supporting street children and vulnerable youth through sustainable, impactful interventions. This new initiative ensures that the support these girls receive during childhood continues into adulthood, helping break cycles of poverty and providing pathways to employment, independence, and long-term dignity.

We warmly invite you to learn more about this initiative and to consider supporting this effort. Your contribution will help create real opportunities, enabling these young women to move forward with stability, purpose, and hope.
